SMART Recovery & Recoverlution Unite For Recovery

By Daniel Fincham on

During May the campaign Unite for Recovery encourages people from all walks of life to come together to raise money, so that more people can access free addiction recovery.

The campaign has been launched by SMART Recovery who offer free addiction help, treatment and support to those affected by addiction. The funds raised will ensure that SMART Recovery, a registered charity, can continue to meet the ever-growing needs of the addiction recovery community.

Recoverlution and SMART Recovery are already partnered as we feel uniting for recovery brings all the needed resources more strength and reach. By partnering with a worldwide organisation such as SMART, we hope to get more people who need help into long-term recovery sooner.

What is Recoverlution?

Recoverlution is an all-in-one online platform and app, designed to fill the gaps that currently exist for those trying to access long-term, sustainable recovery. The platform was created by people in recovery, for people in recovery, or who are seeking recovery.

Recoverlution feel that it is important to unite for recovery. Many services exist, yet we understand that there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to treating addiction. By partnering with SMART Recovery and other well-known recovery services, we offer more resources and options within one safe space.

Currently, the journey into addiction recovery is often disjointed, confusing and hard to sustain due to recovery services working separately. Recoverlution offers knowledge on addiction and recovery, a community hub and wellness programmes that are all accessible online, from the comfort of your own home, or when you're on the go.

Since Covid-19 there has been an ever-growing presence of online addiction recovery communities and an increased need for easy access to meetings and recovery materials. Both Recoverlution and SMART offer online meetings that are free for anyone to join and benefit from.

Why We Unite For Recovery With SMART Recovery

SMART Recovery is a leading organisation and registered charity, providing science-based treatment for those seeking help for a substance use disorder. Their services are free to anyone who suffers from or who is affected by addiction. SMART Recovery are currently onboarding online meetings within our platform, giving the Recoverlution recovery community direct and easy access.

Campaigning for recovery through partnerships shows that as addiction recovery advocates, we are willing to work with any services that provide help and support for those that need it most. We are willing to unite for recovery.

Our hope is that by uniting with treatment services such as SMART Recovery we can help to break the stigma associated with addiction, educate more people on what addiction is and isn't, and provide instant access to the correct help and support.

Campaigns Raise Awareness

Campaigns such as Unite for Recovery not only raise much-needed funds for treatment but also raise awareness about addiction. Taking part in the campaigns says that you care and are willing to roll your sleeves up and get involved.

Unite for Recovery involves walking a selected number of miles per day every day during May. You can choose how little or how much you walk. Walking and being outside is known to be a great form of exercise; it is free and doable by most people. Walking boosts endorphins and can leave you feeling energised. Completing a challenge or campaign gives you a sense of purpose and boosts your self-esteem. It also helps you to connect with others who are taking part along the way.

Funds raised through the Unite For Recovery challenge will help SMART Recovery to continue facilitating change and providing free services for people who want to find life beyond addiction. This is something, that we at Recoverlution feel very passionate about and as such will be taking part and supporting their campaign all the way.

Why We Should Unite For Recovery

Uniting with other recovery services gives more people in recovery a voice that can be heard. It also gives people options to select the recovery programme that most suits them and become part of the wider addiction recovery community.

It has been recognised for a long time that recovery from addiction requires connecting with like-minded others. Together we can recover and live a life beyond addiction. Together we can grow and develop meaningful relationships and help each other overcome difficulties and challenges.

In active addiction we are often isolated, coming into recovery we discover there is a whole new world out there that has compassion and purpose. There are so many people around the world in recovery, getting connected with each other is a step in the right direction.

Let's celebrate recovery together and show the world that recovery is possible.

NHS stops taking gambling funds to treat addiction

By BBC on

The NHS will stop taking money from the gambling industry to treat people with addiction, the NHS England national mental health director has said.

Writing to charity GambleAware, Claire Murdoch said the NHS would instead fund its own gambling services from 1 April.

The gambling industry paid 16m to GambleAware between April and December to help fund treatment services.

Of this, 1.2m was awarded in grants to NHS-run gambling clinics.

But Ms Murdoch said patients were uncomfortable about using services paid for by the gambling industry - and she said that had "heavily influenced" her decision to reject future funding from GambleAware.

She said industry funding "has allowed us to roll out treatment services faster than would have otherwise...

Police Scotland rolls-out naloxone programme country-wide

By DDN on

Police officers across the whole of Scotland are to be equipped with and trained in the use of naloxone, Police Scotland has confirmed.

The national roll-out follows pilot schemes in Caithness, Dundee, Falkirk, Glasgow and Stirling that saw more than 800 officers trained to use naloxone and more than 650 volunteer to carry nasal spray kits.

All operational officers across the country will now carry naloxone spray, says chief constable Iain Livingstone, following an independent review last year by the Scottish Institute for Police Research which recommended a national roll-out. Work has already commenced to ensure there are sufficient stocks of naloxone to equip more than 12,000 police, along with a national training programme. The...

Glasgow Taxis Supporting #StopTheDeaths

By SDF on

More than 20 drivers for Glasgow Taxis have applied to receive and carry naloxone as part of the nationwide initiative to reduce drug deaths.

Drivers who apply to carry the opioid overdose reversal medication will have it in their cabs as they complete their journeys in and around the city.

The taxi firm were one of the first to take a step forward and show support for this initiative, advertising their advocacy with an emblazoned car that can be seen around the city, carrying the #StopTheDeaths message.

The joint initiative by the Scottish Government and Scottish Drugs Forum has used TV and radio adverts and billboards at transport hubs and shopping centres to promote the message that drug deaths in Scotland are preventable.
